24 High Street 1500-1699

No evidence has been found so far of any significant changes to the building in this time period.  It is possible that a ceiling was inserted above the middle bay to add an upper floor to the previously open hall, but the surviving truss timbers do not show any additional mortices (socket holes) for other timbers to suggest this.

Some changes may have been made to the outward appearance, such as different windows or doors.

It is likely that the building remained substantially unchanged during these centuries.
